Piercing healing times (average)

All healing times are approximate and maximum!

‘Stable’ is defined as the fistula being stable enough to accommodate a jewellery change. Skin cells begin to grow around the channel and line the inside of the channel, creating a stable fistula. The skin can be quite delicate at this stage, however this is considered the initial healing stage complete.

‘Fully healed’ is defined as the fistula being entirely healed, can withstand multiple jewellery changes, accommodate new jewellery shape, no lymph or discharge. The skin cells lining and creating the fistula are strong and stable. Collagen is more present, meaning it reacts better to change, and the entire channel is totally stable.

The times given are average healing times. Some heal faster, and some heal slower. They are the maximum healing times, but be wary that most piercings (aside from oral) have a minimum healing time of one year before they’re classed as ‘fully healed’

Piercings marked with a * are generally considered as surface piercings.
